The International Women's Boxing Federation was formed in 1992 when very few People knew Women's boxing. The goal of the IWBF was to form unified rules and regulations for women's boxing that would be followed by commissions throughout the USA and throughout the world, to set up a ranking committe that would follow the women boxers to rank them properly so that mismatches would be at a minimum and. Most of all to make mandatory medicals for women to insure there safety. Our work began by working with the major commissions around the USA (not fighting them). Bringing up strong points to the commissions on safety and rules. To name a few of the issues and rules that were brought out are
- 10 rounds for all world title bouts not 12.
- 2 minute rounds not three
- 8 oz gloves up to 140lbs and 10oz there after.
- Mandatory medicals and licensing for all women.
- Pregnancy testing before all bouts.
- Mandatory title defenses within a repectable time frame of winning the title to insure a chance for the remaining women in the weight division to get there chance at a world title.
